What kinds of vine weeds kill all other plants around them?

please post photos if you have any of your suggestions....

It has white flowers on it and it travels up the plants and seems to choke them. It also seems as though it makes new roots from the top of the leaves? It's hard to explain

The "strangler fig" is a classic but the one that I've actually seen is the common honeysuckle. RScott
Reply:Only one I have seen is Old Mans Beard(Clematis vitalba)

Here in NZ it is a major problem in native forests. It smothers any tree it can climb, prolific seeder and can grow up to 10m per year

Search "Old Mans Beard" heaps of sites available

The plant you are describing sounds very much like Convoluvulus-----a wild weed relative of the Morning Glory (Ipomea).

Best to dig this pest out by the roots.

I hope this helps you.

Reply:Bindweed (looks like a morning glory but white flowers and sometimes pale pink).

OR

Dodder - Sounds more like what you describe because most of the plant looks like 'roots'. It can have white, yellow or pinkish flowers. Found some pictures here.
