How can I kill a trumpet vine that is coming up all over?

I have removed the main plant (digging down three feet) however, it is coming up in areas 15 to 20 feet away from where the main plant was. It is growing in flower beds near established shrubs.

It is probably sprouting from the roots that are still alive. Get a bottle of Brush and Stump killer, and when you cut them out, take a small paintbrush and dip it in the killer, full strength, and paint it on the freshly cut stump. It will go down into the roots and kill it out. Be very careful not to get it on anything you don't want to kill, because it is deadly to plants. There are several brands, Fertilome, Hi-Yield and Ortho are 3
Reply:Make certain you get all the pieces, each piece will become a new plant.

It's roots are also very deep.
