How do I kill out trumpet vine without killing everything. It's taken over the yard!?

Am into the second year of doing the same-- I'm afraid the monster is like Johnson Grass!! ANY piece of root starts the cycle all over again---- cut it back as hard as you can-- let new growth begin-- then Roundup the heck out of it-- then repeat in a few days--then keep a watch on it-- and Roundup it again!! I wimped out so that's why I'm doing it again this year.

good luck

you need to pull it out by the roots a good pair of gloves helps this and it's cheap! but if not try a weed killer that is great for veg and lawns just kep it on the vine!
Reply:Try the forums at http://www.suburbangarden.com/ they are geared more toward this type of questions
Reply:You try getting roundup and spraying it onto the leaves (try not to get it into your eyes). If it is a well-established vine, cut it down to the ground, then any new shoots that come up can be sprayed with round-up. There is a tough brush and vine version of Round-Up I believe.
Reply:Get a mattock and dig out every root. You can do this over time, because doing it in one day is exhausting. Dispose of the roots away from your yard.
Reply:I gave up trying to dig them out. I just bought trellis's for them and let them go. Keep them trimmed up, though.
