How do I grow a grape vine form a branch?

What sort of branch should I plant? Can it be the part that the grapes are on?

In the spring when they are pruning the grapes, these pruning vines that are usually thrown away make okay cuttings. Make sure there are several nodes on your cutting. These will look like little bumps or knots on the branch. Also make sure there are no leaves on the part you are putting in the ground. Plant at least 4 inches deep and keep moist. I like to use gallon pots and part loamy and part sandy soil. Some people use a product called root-tone. It is a powder you dip the part your going to plant in before you put it in soil. I have used this with good results. Good Luck and Have Fun!!
Reply:cut off some of the vine then try to root it
Reply:Seems like you would need a fresh, young growing shoot in the early spring to root, then you would plant like normal.
