I am looking to identify a vine that is growing on my fence?

It has leaves like a cape goose berry. But the berries are enclosed in a cage rather than a lantern cover. The berry while in this cage turns yellow in colour. The fruit when cut smells sweet. The fruit is small about the size of the end of a persons smallest finger. I have pictures if that would help

Bring it to your local garden center. They can be a great resource and love to help. If they can't, you can contact an area master gardener.
Reply:Pictures would help, indeed.

Knowing the location would be helpful too (city, state).
Reply:Sounds like ground cherry. I saw them recently in the Terrestrial Seeds on-line catalog... They are next to the tomatillos that i am considering getting. Just a google away so you won't need "pics". Its a great company, by the way, to you other folks who like "heirloom" varieties...
