I have a flourishing grape vine but no flowers or grapes what am i doing wrong?

Ensure you trim back the shooters that grow from the main vines. If you want good grape production, you have to keep the new growth trimmed back. It's called caning.

This fall, trim it back so it has at most 8 shoots coming off of it. You should have the vine's base and 2 horizontal shoots coming from that. Try to have no more than 3 vertical shoots from each of those.

Also, unless you live in a desrt-area, try cutting back on how much you water it (once you've caned the excess vines off), and quit watering it in the fall so that the vine will harden itself up for winter

Reply:It's a male one get a female vine
Reply:If it aint got flowers or grapes then it aint flourishing!
Reply:You just haven't earned it yet, baby. You just haven't earned it, son.
Reply:griping?
Reply:The most common reasons for small fruits not to flower and fruit are too little sun, or too much nitrogen (either chem. or organic fertilizers).
Reply:I can not tell you what is wrong with yours , however I can tell you what kept mine from making grapes. It turns out that if you use a weed killer with 2 -4 D in it you will never have grapes. Seems even just the smell of 2- 4 D is enough to keep vines from making grapes. I would check the labels on your weed killers or check your neighbors. Seems most of the readily available weed killers have 2-4 D in them. This year I have grapes since I stopped using the 2-4 D weed killer last year.
Reply:How long as the vine been planted?

It takes a year before the flowers come out, then the following year you should get grapes.

We had our first grapes last year but they were only small. This year seems to be no better. The vine is taking over the fence %26amp; seems to have started to strangle my neighbours tree, but still small grapes.

I think the weather is affecting ours.

Good luck :-)
Reply:just out of interest have you heard anything on that grape vine?
Reply:Maybe you have planted a wrong variety. Where do you live ask your nearest garden store to help you to choose the correct one.

If it has been in the ground for two or more years, has it been pruned?

Grapes flower, and subsequently produce fruit, on new wood, stems that have grown that season. If it is not "encouraged" by pruning to grow new wood every year then at best production is limited.

Pruning grapes in Jan. or Feb. all the way back to the main stems will cause new growth and many more flowers.
