Can vinca vine be kept indoors?

Want to plant in hanging basket or pots indoors, will they live all year?

Can vinca vine be kept indoors?
I have never heard of growing Vinca as a houseplant.

That doesn't mean it's not possible. My advice is to experiment. All you need is a small piece of the Vinca vine, roots included. Set it in a quality growing medium ( I like Miracle Gro potting soil ) in either a hanging basket or pot, keep it watered and see how it does. Vinca does well in shade so I would think ti would be OK in household lighting.
Reply:Ummm - no.

Normal Vincas range from hardiness zone 6-8 in full sun and 6-7 in shaded locations. Even the sunniest interior space is typically "shaded" when you look at the amount of direct sun received, so we are talking zone 6-7. Indoors is closer to Zone 10 or 11 with no winter or dormant period at all and much drier air than out-doors, typically. So it will grow for a while, but die before spring unless you can leave it in a sunny non-conditioned space all winter.

It can be tempting to consider evergreens to be like tropicals, but they are not - as many past experiences of mine will testify (and hardiness zones prove). Most plants need some cold weather each year.
