Were do you find the vine number on a honda 2002 400 EX?

The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) for motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles are not found in same places as regular passenger vehicles. (Some obvious reasons would be the lack of windshield, doors, et cetera.)

For a Honda, the VIN should be stamped on the front side of the frame, on a bracket that the front bumper bolts to, on the front crossbar, or on the left-front frame tube. If not there, it will be somewhere on the metal frame (not the "plastic" body), most likely near the front. (If an after-market frame, I've heard you might also find them under the motor, near the shifter, or under the seat.)

The numbers are not always clear because of paint. So you might have to use a paper and a crayon to trace the VIN in order to read them. A flashlight might also be useful, so you can actually spot the indents/bumps of the numbers.

Also, if your ATV has been registered, you should be able to find the VIN on your registration and title papers. You might also be able to find it written somewhere on your owner's manual, if you have one.

And most likely (though I'm not absolutely sure), the VIN for a 2002 Honda all-terrain vehicle, if purchased/assembled in the USA, will look something like:

478??????2???????

The first three numbers are a manufacturer and location identification (being Honda in the USA). The other numbers are various identifiers for the model line (4th-8th), plant manufactured at (11th), et cetera. I believe there should be 17 digits total in your VIN.

Hope that helps.

VIN (vehicle identification number) is located at the base of the windshield on the driver's side. There is usually also a sticker on the driver's door or pillar. Failing that, many of the body parts have the vin stamped in it, but the windshield is the easiest. The engine also has a stamp on it, usually on a flat square pad molded into the engine block, but that's usually engine model only. There should also be a tin plate on the block by the oil filter with the number. These are all over the vehicle to help to id parts when/if the car is stolen
