Will a philodendron vine re-root by placing the cut end in water?

Just cut off a couple of the leaves and put the bottoms in water. Roots will grow from the old leaf nodes. You can actually put the old stems that have lost their leaves in water and they will start rooting too. Cut the old bare vines into about 6 or 7 inch sections.

Yes....but it takes awhile...most indoor plants will live in and grow good in water.Change the water often.maybe feed them a little plant food every month.
Reply:My husband picked up off the floor at church, a branch of a split leaf phil. that broke off when some children grabed it. He stuck it in potting soil that held some silk irises in our front room. The thing is doin' great. It sits by an east facing window. I water it about once a month with a quart of warm water, dust the leaves and protect if from my mother's Mainecoon cat that loves to chew on it.
