Is the bittersweet vine an invasive, and how to tell if it is male or female?

Bittersweet is a vigorous vine that can kill other shrubs or trees as it will girdle their stems. It's a fast grower. Listed as growing to 20', but it appears that it will continue to grow beyond that point as long as there is something yet to grow on. The only way I know to identify a female from a male is that the female will produce fruit. Like holly, the female plant must have a male plant nearby for pollination if the female is to produce fruit. Usually the plant is labeled when sold so that you know which is male %26amp; which is female (i.e. 'Indian Brave' or 'Indian Maiden').
