Why is my sweet potato vine dying?

You give no description of what's happening to your SPV so all I can tell you is the #1 cause of death in houseplants is overwatering (which causes the roots to rot).

Why is my sweet potato vine dying?
It may need more water. I have one that I kept in my greenhouse over the winter and I notice that it needs to be watered more often than other plants.
Reply:For hundreds of possible reasons that make plants die. I presume your sweet potato vine is growing in a raised bed outdoors? And you live in a sunny climate?

Otherwise it could be any garden disease (mould, bacterial rot, black spot... ) or garden pest (bugs, caterpillars, beetles, and so on.)

It could have been underwatered, and got traumatised for one occasion so that it almost withered and never recovered its health. Or it could have been overwatered and the soil is soggy. You know a plant is overwatered when the tips of some leaves are brown. And when you hose the patch, there is a puddle of water formed where it grows that can't sink in quickly enough.

If you are referring to a house plant, where you grow a trailing vine in a pot in your sitting room, then this is just not an ideal place for sweet potatoes to grow. The air might be too dry from central heating. It is an outdoor plant. Frost is another suspect, whether it is outdoors or indoors.
Reply:My mother had one all the time I was growing up%26amp; she said that when the sweet potato used up all its nutrients that it dies. She would just plant another one. they grow so fast she said.
