I would like to know if someone will help with the vine that runs up my back fence behind the storage building

I have vines running up and down my back fence from the storage building behind my fence and I try to cut them but they cme back and I hate the way the look on my fence. I am afraid when my granddaugther goes back there to play basketball on the court. My cat has brought home snakes and lizard from under the fence. Is there any help for this. Thank you

A vegetation killer sprayed in a strip under the fence and a foot on each side should take care of those vines and weeds. Just be sure there are no trees whose roots would be under that area, as vegetation killer can get down to tree roots and kill trees. If this is the case, use Roundup when the leaves are green and growth is active, Roundup is systemic to plants but becomes inactive where it touches soil.

Your other option is to dig everything out in a strip under the fence and a foot on either side, put down a strip of landscape fabric to keep new growth out, and fill in the area with gravel or hardwood mulch.
Reply:Either you cut back the vine including removal of the plant's crown or you use a herbicide to do your dirty work. Without removal of the crown, cutting back will just result in the regrowth of the vine. Regular RoundUp is a non-selective herbicide that works on herbaceous plants (green stemmed plants). Tough woody plants like a vine require a tougher product. Consider the use of Roundup? Poison Ivy %26amp; Tough Brush Killer Plus Concentrate or Ortho? Brush-B-Gon? Poison Ivy Killer Concentrate.
Reply:Use a brush and paint UNdiluted Round Up on the leaves. Guaranteed to murder plants.
