I have a Whisteria Vine and how long before it blooms?

Some seed propagted plants will never bloom. Hopefully, yours is a grafted variety.

You may need to root prune it to get it to bloom if it's already well established and not flowering for you.

I read one woman saying she beats her vine with a shovel early each spring to get it to bloom. Haven't tried it myself.

Good luck!

I would kill off the wisteria, it is a pernicious weed that climbs trees, and sprouts all over the yard. It can sap the strength out of a tree and cause it to fall. It does have a beautiful flower that will bloom in the late spring or early summer
Reply:From what I've heard in the nursery industry, they say it takes about 7 years to bloom. But is that from when it was rooted or what is anyone's guess. Either way, just know it takes a few years. And as others have warned, be careful. It can be a monster if not kept in check!
Reply:If planted from a cutting...about 2 to 3 years. Be forewarned, it will get out of hand if you don't prune it.
Reply:If Wisteria doesn't bloom after two years in the ground, take a spade and chop the roots that extend more that 12" from the plant. For whatever reason this does encourage them to bloom. I have had some luck using this technique.
Reply:Simple answer, it depends. Depending on the specific variety, with grafted plants you can often see flowers in the first year.
