Is America Ready for the Interracial Romance Novel, Ivy's Twisted Vine?

This other question made me want to pose the question, "Is America ready for Ivy's Twisted Vine?" If you've read this book, you see how the author Latrivia Nelson used an interracial platform to move beyond race and focus a great deal more on real relationships. I wonder how America is going to embrace a fiction piece that is the next evolution of "guess who's coming to dinner?". Clearly this author gets the modern young single woman and man. Race is taking a back seat to love in this one. What do you think?

Is America Ready for the Interracial Romance Novel, Ivy's Twisted Vine?
This has been done already in several books. It may be a great book but the theme is not new.
Reply:Sorry Chica. I don't think that Hollywood has depicted characters who were beyond color yet. Look at Monster's Ball. It was a great movie, but it was a great movie because it focused on race. Every story ever told in city of film, told it with race in mind. I'm definitely ready for a freaking movie about more than just race. I've dated out side of my race for years and I would like to read something that is hot and sexy and fresher than what's on the shelves right now. I read the prologue online now and the two chapters. America is right. It reads great, but it sees pass the color lines. Can't wait to get a copy of Ivy's Twisted Vine, man. It's about time.
Reply:I can only access the first few chapters, but from what I've read, it seems that this book is creating conversations because it does steer away from obvious racial tension before you can get to know that characters. I hope that there is some conversation about race in this book, because it is a part of life. However, I am looking forward to reading an interracial novel that focuses on more than just - oh, he's white and I'm black. So what should we do - and I haven't read many interracial novels that can manage to do that. This is a new author, so she has promise. Plus, from looking at her myspace page attached to her website, she understands what interracial relationships involve because she is in an interracial marriage. Maybe she's the next Sandra Kitt.
Reply:The first couple of chapters are electric. I only wish that she would maybe post chapter three. I am definitely ready for it, and I'm American. From reading the synopsis of the book, it looks to have it all, love, sex, murder, drama. My boyfriend even wants to read it when my book arrives.

I don't think that people should bulk all americans into one group. Are forward thinking adults ready for Ivy's Twisted Vine? Yes. Maybe some people aren't ready for interracail relationships, but most of us have moved on.
