Will my watermelons and cateloupe continue to ripen after they are cut from vine?

I found three canteloupes, smaller in size then one i picked ripe, very ripe and orange on ground with vine broke off of them, (maybe i stepped on vine? maybe it dropped off?)

Can i just pick them and the watermelon and lett them ripen inside, safe from the deer?

Cantaloupe will, to ripen faster put it in a paper bag.

Watermelon does not ripen after picking.

Reply:YES THEY WILL CONTINUE TOO RIPEN OFF OF THE VINE !!! Just be sure to keep eye on them not to get too ripe!!
Reply:Yes they will.....just lay them in the shade and give them a few days
Reply:Yes, they will be fine for a few days up to a week and become more ripe. But don't wait too long or they'll get sour.
Reply:Yes, but their sweetness will not improve. You will stunt it at the point it was before you cut off the fruit
