Anyone seen or heard of a "Black Eyed Susan" Vine?

I know there is a flower called Black Eyed Susand, but is there also a vine ?

How long does it bloom for and is it self supporting or not?

Does it require much sun?

Thanks for your answers!

Anyone seen or heard of a "Black Eyed Susan" Vine?
Absolutely. It's called Thunbergia. I have some started in my greenhouse right now. It is a perennial where I live in zone 9. It likes full sun but I have seen it do very well in part sun in hot areas. They do need a trellis or something to grow on. Park seed has a few varieties. Check them out on the web. The white is really pretty.
Reply:You grow it from seed and its grows 5ft and flowers all in one years and also dies.A pyramid support is best. From seed it takes just 5 days to come up
Reply:The only Black Eyed Susan plant I know is a vine. It blooms all summer %26amp; is great in full sun- but if you had a spot where it got a bit of shade in the middle of the summer (when it's the hottest) - it might be better- so the leaves don't burn. As far as self supporting ... Im not sure what you mean - but they are very hearty plants.

ALSO Portulaca's are alsoa great flower %26amp; are great in the sun. They bloom different colors everyday, %26amp; you don't have to water them everyday- even in the extreme heat, and they are extremely easy to maintain.

- THESE are my favorites- I can go away for 4-5 days %26amp; know they are still ok. - Even without watering!!

Hope this helps!

Take care
Reply:it is an annual that is beautiful in a hanging basket mine did well with an east exposure... blomed all summer till frost killed it.
Reply:Yes, it is a lovely yellow vine, as others have stated. I bought my seeds today at Walmart and planted them to grow up a fence. I plant this every year, and the birds and the insects love it. It covers the fence nicely and it takes care of itself. I live in California, and plant it in the sun and it does fine. It is not self supporting, so you will have to let it climb up a fence or a trellis.

Have fun. It is a lovely plant and grows quickly.
Reply:flowers can also be orange. I build a wood frame for them to climb but they also can trail. very nice plant. right now I'm building a frame out of 1/2 in. copper pipe to replace the wood one

Reply:Yes, it's a pretty little yellow flower, with a dark centre, and yes, it is a climber. It does require plenty sunlight, and it will need support.
